Thank you for responding. I have video files that have patterns instead of colors and I thought maybe I could find
additional filters for VirtualDub. Do you know any other software that uses patterns?
Another question... I wonder if I can put a video file (Ratio 2.40.1 ect ect) > 16/9 with VirtualDub without changing the ratio?
I can do it with Vd but I have a lot of loss in the sides.
Sorry for my english but I used Google translation

1) I searched a while via Google but do not immediatly find any filters that would allow you to add pattern instead of solid colors.

2) Normally AVI-files do not have possibility to set "aspect ratio".
It seems that some codecs themselves should do, but I have not been able to do so (in AVI).

What I mostly do is : apply the Resize filter and set the new size to for exemple
- Absolute : 540 x 404 (to keep 4:3 aspect)
- Aspect ratio : disabled
- Filter mode : Lanczos
- Interlaced : not checked
- Framing options : Letterbox/crop to size : 720 x 404 (to embed the 4:3 into a 16:9)
- Fill color : black
This format plays correctly on TV via USB stick, and also on pc via Windows Media Player.
(When I use 540 x 404 on TV, then the image is 'stretched' out to the width of the screen.)
It is up to you to use wether or not this solution.

3) What do you mean by "loss in the sides" ? Do you loose a piece of the image, maybe due to the 'Cropping..." not set to 'zero' for the Resize filter ?
