I know this doesn't have anything to do with Virtualdub itself, but I imagine someone has run into it before.
I have a Hauppage WinTV (model 401) telivision card that I use as a capture source. I know that Virtualdub can not select channels (a shame, though I understand why), but I wondered if anyone knows how to select the channel without starting WinTV and changing it manually (by an initialization file, a regsitry entry, or some similar method).
I tried changing "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\wintv32\Channel" (which actually does contain the last channel used), but it does not affect the channel that comes up when starting WinTV (or Virtualdub).
Thank you for your help.

Who says Virtualdub can't change cahnnels??? I have the ATI AiW Radeon 7500 (TV 7.7 version drivers), which uses WDM drivers (not supposed to work with Virtualdub), and it changes channels just fine. In Capture mode, Video->Source->TV Tuner button->select the channel you want, hit enter, and apply. I just used Virtualdub to change from channel 4 (local advertising) to channel 30 (CMT). No problems here.

Here is the trick. Can you tell the card to tune to a specific channel at a specific time unattended? I can do what you just outlined with my Hauppage WinTV GO 404. But I can't tell the software to do that when I am not there. |

I don't see that at all.
In Video -> Source, I get three sections:
1. A "Video Connector" section, selectable (radio button) to Tuner, Composite, or Camera.
2. A "Color" section for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Hue (selectable from 0-255)
3. A "Standard" section, selectable (radio button) to NTSC-M, NTSC-Japan, PAL BDGHJ, PAL M, PAL N, or SECAM
And OK, Cancel, Default, and Help buttons on the bottom. |

You have the Vfw driver for WinTV, Brian Young has the WDM driver with a WDM wrapper so it will work with VDub which uses VFW.
