I am an experienced virtual dub user, however this is the first time I have tried to capture video, and I am running into a problem. When the I pull up the box "Select Vieo Compresion" there are none to select from? Im sure it is simple but I'm lost. Please help. |

I can't be of much help here as I've got a similar problem...
When launching VirtualDub and going directly to the Video - Compression window, I see a full list of all codecs installed (including DivX - which is the one I want to use). However when I move to Capture mode and try to select a codec there, all I see is a very cut down list, containing only a few basic codecs.
Please help, as I'm desperate to start converting all my old video tapes to DivX!

The list contains only those codecs which are capable of compressing the video format that your capture device is producing. Try changing your capture format to RGB or YUY2, or use "Set custom format."

Excellent! Thanks for that info. Everything is now working well. Not quite sure what all those different formats mean or which is 'best' for my uses, but I guess that's a whole different topic...!

Best choice for capturing are huffyuv or an MJPEG Codec (i.g. Pic Video or Morgan or Leadtech)
