I have been capturing video/TV for some time now without problems. Some weeks ago I installed AVIsynth (I think it was to get MPEG1/2 support) in addition. Now, after 4 weeks, every time I want to start a new capture, up pops a message from Videotools that tell me to pay for the shareware and I am redirected to their website. As I don't use AVIsynth now, I followed their instruction for deinstalling which seemed to be successfull.

The problem is that it left me without audio on my captures, no matter what codec I use (normally PMC). I can record and get audio using ATI MMC, and I can hear the sound when I capture with Virtualdub, but nothing is recorded. Playback of my old captures still give sound.

I have tried to reinstall both Avisynth and Virtualdub, without any results. Can anyone help??

My system is XP-Home with 1.4.11 of VirtualDub (1.4.10 until this moment). I use Windows Update, so everything should be up to date.

thanx

Problem solved, heres the solution:

I was using a microphone the other day, and XP or VirtualDub swithced input from Line In to Microphone. When I disconnected the mic, the contrary didn't happen. So Virtualdub was only taking sound from from the microphone when capturing, even though I could hear the sound in the speakers while capturing.
To fix it: Open sound control, open properties and choose recording levels, make shure that both microphone and line in are ticked. When you get the sound level controls back on the screen, just tick line in and it wil switch.

And my apologies to Videotools, it was a coinsidence that their shareware timed out the same day as I used the mic...
