Have been a user of VirtualDub now for some time with good results capturing home video (vhs-c ) using a Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro capture card on an old PII 300mhz PC , after testing different settings, codecs etc I have found settings that work really well ( end result is converted and transferred to VCD ), now to my problem , I recently installed the same type of card ( but a later version ) on another PC ( XP1800+ ) which has a Creative Nvidia Riva TNT 32mb graphics card, after installing VirtualDub on this PC I set things ups as normal and tried capturing with fairly good results but thought that it would be a good idea to experiment with settings as this processor is much faster in the hope of getting even better results, and herein lies the problem under the settings menu for video format I set it up as 24bit RGB I then tried to capture and all I got was a black screen and a locked up PC! nothing helped I had to reboot after which the PC worked normally apart from using VirtualDub , I can start the program but as soon as I choose File > CaptureAVI I get the same result and have to reboot, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the end result is the same even if I manually remove all references to VirtualDub in the registry, I appear to have sawn of the branch I'm sitting on ! anybody know of a backdoor to video capture settings so that I can remove the offending setup, or is there some ini. or similar file which is written to which could be edited ? ( I should add both PC's use Windows 98 second edition). Thanks in advance. |

Someone could help us, please, telling where these parameters are?

This sounds exactly like another thread I remember:

I don't know if he ever solved his problem either. Has anyone tried re-installing the drivers for the video card? I'm sorry, I don't know what else to suggest. Good luck.
