Hi, just started capturing, yay me!

Using my Athlon 1.4, 512 ram, 7200 HD (so specs are ok) With the not so good ASUS v7700 deluxe tv card, and the crappy kicker (suposidly) SB Audigy sound card. I cant seem to capture mpegs or when I capture avi's after a minute I get audio skew (that VT thingie.. listed in ms). I click that checkbox which mates video to audio and I can only get 20 fps.

Even with using no compresssion and all sorts of combos of PCM audio I cant get the skew to go away. I realize skew is discussed elsewhere and I may just have to buy a dedicated capture solution but I hear some people with less horsepower under the hood can capture with Vdub at 30 fps and no problems.

Best solution so far (that Ive found ) use ASUS digital VCR to record .avi (its mpg's wont load in Vdub) then re-encode the data with divx5 and mp3 audio.

it's probably creating MPEG-2 files with MPG extensions (my ATiAIW8500DV does that), load it into media player, right click the video area, pick properties, then go to the advanced tab. if there is anything that says mpeg-2 in any form, you need to use something besides VD to open it, TMPEG works nicely. If there's nothing that says MPEG-2 specifically, look for one that says MPEG video (or similar) and double click it, it should tell you if it's MPEG-1 or 2
