Ive got a Samsung MiniDV PAL Camcorder and have just been using the Microsoft DV codec and Premier to capture the data from the camera, then opening up the resulting AVI file in VirtualDub.
The quality of the capture is chronic, it looks like a 320x200 capture instead of the high quality I was expecting from MiniDV.
Has anyone got any ideas on this ? Is progressive capture a different system to the way Premier does it ?
Many thanks,

Hmm, I don't use DV so I can't test this, but I seem to remember others talking about a "High Quality" mode in the control panel for DV codecs. Does yours have such a button? If so try setting it.
If I remember correctly, the codec was decoding in a "draft" mode for easy real time decoding. Only one field was decoded and DCT quanization artifacts were increased. Once the HQ mode was enable, full resolution decoding was turned on and the quality looked as it should. |
