Hi all,
I'm running vd 1.10.3 (32-bit) on a windows xp laptop (32-bits) and am unable to change the frame rate. The frame rate is set at 30 fps, but it actually is 6 or 7 fps. When I change the frame rate to for example 1 fps, it still tells me that I set it at 30 fps and it keeps capturing at 6 or 7 fps. What kind of problem is this and is there a solution? The combination of vd and camera (microscope cam from Conrad: http://www.conrad.com/ce/en/product/191341...x-20-Megapixel) does work well on another laptop (windows 7)...
thanks in advance for answering, Rivo |

Following the specifications of your Conrad USB digital microscope it is indeed sending 30 frames per second via USB.
When capturing these images in VirtualDub, you have to take care that your pc can keep up with this. It needs enough time to 'compress' the information and also to 'write' it to its harddisk.
Did you set a compression codec for video and audio ? > While in 'capture mode', you can set these via Video > Compression... and via Audio > Compression... If not, then VirtualDub will try to store the information to the harddisk in 'uncompressed' AVI-format. In that case, the number of (megabytes) to write will be so high that the harddisk mostly can not follow. In that manner there will be less or more images that will be 'lost' (dropped frames).
I suppose that is the reason why you only reach about 6 to 7 images per second. |
