I have bought an AverMedia capture card to capture old VHS videos with a good SVHS PAL VCR. Trying to capture with Virtualdub, only gives me PAL M and N options. South Africa uses PAL I. As I want to capture in AVI, this seems to be the best program.
Do I need drivers, or update my motherboard- but I have tried both. Or any other advice?

This is my Motherboard

You may actually need different capture hardware. I can't find any good information on this particular capture device, but one thing that is suspicious is that PAL-M and PAL-N are variants of PAL that use the NTSC 3.58MHz color subcarrier frequency instead of 4.43MHz. That it also says ATSC instead of DVB-T leads me to believe you have hardware that is limited to handling NTSC and NTSC-like variants of PAL. |
