I have a Pinnacle capture card and for some reason a lot of capture software got sync problems. Even the official software ( Studio 12 ) doesn't work. With VirtualDub I got almost good results with the following timing settings:

Drop frames when captured freames are too close together ENABLE
Insert null frames when captured frames are too fat apart ENABLE
Null frame burst limit 10
Resync mode Sync video to audio by adjusting video timing
Automatically disable resync when integrated audio/video capture is detected DISABLE
Audio latency determination AUTOMATIC 30
Use audio timestamps when available ENABLE
Disable timestamps for precies DISABLE
Force audio clock when audio playback is enabled ENABLE
Ignore video timestamps from capture drivers ENABLE

But I still get a lot of frame drops and inserts and the audio is not always good in sync. There is only one exception, Windows Live MovieMaker works perfect. Audio and video are perfect in sync and the software doesn't make my system hang all the time. The disadvantage of MovieMaker is that it only captures in windows media. I don't get it, why is it possible to get a perfect capture with a simple program as MovieMaker, while a advance piece of software like VirtualDub doesn't work??!?!? huh.gif ( No offence )

Movie makes was written by a huge corporation while vdub is a product of someones hobby.
Be thankful for what you have.
Just my 2 cents.
