Hello,

I just bought a used ATI Theater 650 PCI (Sapphire Branded) for its "superior" analog capture quality. Turns out I am unable to capture using VirtualDub v1.9.11 32 or 64, AmCap or MS LiveCam. All I get is a blank screen. Mysteriously Nero Vision 10 is able to capture. I am using latest 10.4 drivers from ATI site. I was thinking that as usual ATI drivers are crap and the directshow capture driver is broken. Nero is working because it uses some other way to access the card? I am guessing this because it detects the digital tuner of the card whereas all other programs only detect the analog. I would appreciate any kind of help.

Thanks.

The ATI Theater 650 devices should work with VirtualDub -- I have one myself as the main capture device in both XP32 and Win7 x64. If you are using the vendor drivers, though, you might try switching to the ones from ATI's site.

Also, check the video input -- it may be starting on a different input, giving you the black input.

I am using the "latest" 10.4 drivers from AMD/ATI website and I am selecting a valid video input. I have gotten virtualdub to work (w/o audio) by opening Nero vision 10 capture window and then opening virtualdub while Nero is open but it does not capture video if opened by itself. Any troubleshooting steps you suggest to get this card/drivers behaving in Win7 x64? H/W is good as everything works perfectly in a testing copy of Vista x86 I installed.
