| QUOTE (grif_mcrenolds @ Jul 23 2002, 06:20 PM) | I think I'm just confused on what DMA is. But thanks anyway. |
DMA stands for Direct Memory Access ( or something similar ). It was developed to replace PIO ( Programable Input/Output ) because PIO uses much CPU power. DMA is a lot faster but not every piece of hardware supports it ( especially older hardware ).
I think your problem is driver related. Try http://btwincap.sourceforge.net versions 5.3.0 and later work great for me. |

i have the ATI card (all-in wonder 28 pro) and also get "no capture driver available" when I try to open "capture avi" from the file menu. Is there somewhere i can download the needed driver - or am i just missing something? |

Hello: I am a brand new member with perhaps an old problem. I have an IBM laptop, with PIII 800 Mhz, and normally I have 6 free Gygas. I am trying to capture with Virtual dub, but have problems with it. I am using a Sony DV camera and a firelink card (IBM PCMCIA card). The problems:
1.- Under the video tag I do not see the capture card 2.- Now, after trying to correct the problem above, I can not even bring the capture menu. It tells me that:"VirtualDub can not connect to the desired capture driver"
I wanted to unistall the program but do not know how. ANy help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Chalaco

| QUOTE (grif_mcrenolds @ Jul 12 2002, 02:33 PM) | Wait a minute. It was working for a while, but now whenever I start up Capture AVI in VirtualDub - I just hear the audio feed from the tuner then it freezes up and the screen goes black. |
Huffyuv only works with a depth of 24 so use YUV or YUY2 colour or RGB24. Huffyuv is much faster when used with YUY or similar formats, so it should be your first choice |

| QUOTE (grif_mcrenolds @ Jul 22 2002, 01:07 PM) | Works great now! I uninstalled all the drivers, and reinstalled them. Then I disabled the DMA on my DVD-ROM, and now it works great. Huffyuv also showed up in my codec list when I set the color depth to yuy2. Everything is good!
Thanks for the advice! |
uppps seems like i should read the whole thread before posting. you had already solved the problem and what is worst someone had already posted the same answer.... |
