What program are you using to watch it?
In Virtualdub you have to stop playing it before you can seek around.

Use the Matroska file format

Im using both :
DivX Player 2.0 Alpha
and Windows Media Player 9

i dont think that the player is the problem,i guess its something in the encoding process.

try installing ffdshow .
It is a directshow filter that supports Divx, Xvid, etc.

10x
I try that ,didnt work out.

maybe its not a video problem , maybe the memory or the video card.

I have many divx videos that have the same problem, but also many videos without that problem...

What codec are you encoding your file with?

When you open your file in Virtualdub, in the "Open Video File" window, check the "Popup extented open options". Choose your file, clieck Open and in the new window that will appear, check "re-derive keyframe flags and click OK.

Encode a small portion of your movie to test. Open that test movie in your player and verify that you can scroll in it. If it work, then I guess you can go ahead and encode the entire file. If it does not work... ahem, what codec are you encoding your file with?
