Hi be4

You want to compress a MPEG file to something else?

VD can read only MPEG1 files. The action is straightforward the same as with AVI files.

Or do you want to compress something to a MPEG file?

You can't set MPEG compression in VD and VD is for storing AVI files only. But VD can act as a frameserver for other programs such as MPEG encoders. A good freeware MPEG encoder is TMPGEnc.

Read more about the VD frameserver in the VD documentation.

Practical hints and FAQs are explained in VirtualDub to TMPGEnc frameserving FAQ and in VCDHELP: How to Frameserve with Virtualdub

Good luck!
Stefan
