Any suggestions? I tried smart filter and I have pretty good results but I am thinking I missing something.
Also, how are the field and frames handled?
What are some good suggestions on filters and settings.
Any advise would be appreciated.

I think you'll need to provide more information about what you're trying to do. For one thing, it matters whether you're trying to target a progressive or interlaced output -- if your output is going to be interlaced as well then you'll want to avoid deinterlacing if possible. Also, some operations can be done prior to interlacing, like levels adjustments, whereas other operations like resize/resample really need to be done on deinterlaced video.

I am using TDeint (AVISynth) and the result is crisp!
Only problem: during movement the smearing seems to be lacking a bit, so the single pictures are "hopping" once in a while. Perhaps the settings/algorithm is too crisp?

My output target is a progressive file which I will post process again. I am getting decent results with my current process but I am not completely satisfied, the edges are a bit blocky. Deinterlacing on another program also gives good results but not perfect.
For virtualdub, there is also the issue of frame rates. I would like the output to be 30FPS from 60 interlaced fields and I am not sure how to control this.
Any input on the frame rate or reducing the blocking on the edges was would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a pretty good deinterlace plugin that I use quite often for my 1080i camcorder videos. It supports multi-threading also.

The best de-interlacer filter i know is QTGMC for avisynth, but it needs a lot of CPU power, and it's slow. |
