Problem With Capture.

Hi,
I recently reinstalled windows, from windows 2000 pro, to win xp pro.
In windows 2000 everything was working fine, with respect to my capture card, which is a lifeview fly video 98 fm.

For a while, everything was working fine in xp as well. I was able to make a full capture from my vcr, and it was perfect.
I went to try it again, but when I opened the capture avi section of virtual dub, it gives this error:

"Video device already in use" - bla bla bla...

Anyway, its not in use, and I am able to use any other driver based program to access the card, I've used iuVCR and windows media encoding utility, and both capture the video fine. Dscaler also works fine.
it is only Virtual dub which gives this error.

If I click on OK, it lets me choose another video device, so I clicked on Life view fly video (lifeview capture) and it says "capture device not detected"
I click OK, and it says Virtual dub cannot connect to the desired capture driver, trying all available drivers, and it connects to my webcam.

This has stumped me, as it "was" working, and now isnt.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but to no avail.
It seems as if it is only virtual dub causing the error. I have deleted the registry key for virtual dub, but that didn't work either.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hi,

sometimes it is the same at my system. I do a restart then and everything is fine, I think it could be a problem if you turned on the preview (or theater) mode in kazaa or something similiar, I dont know exactly but it could be...

I seem to have fixed it, although it seems temperamental.
I had to do a combination of drivers smile.gif
I uninstalled everything, using the utility that came with the BTwincap drivers, and then installed the drivers that I downloaded from the manufacturer website.
It still didn't work, so then I installed the BTwincap drivers.
However they didn't install the crossbar or the tuner drivers. So winxp kept asking for them. I installed the tuner and crossbar drivers that came from the manufacturer, and it seems to work now.
However the quality seems to be lacking with the BTwincap drivers.
But at least it is working now.
