I would like to know if someone can help me out on Virtual Dub on a few points....
1-When I load a damaged avi file in virtual, it reconstructs its index and makes readable...I wish to save the correct file. Can I just overwrite the damaged avi file or do I need to create a new avi file, correct this time.In any case , how should I do?
2-can I do the same thing with .mpg files as Virtual reconstructs its index??
3-can I transform a mpg into avi , using the Virtual dub program?
4-how can i create 700mb files from mpg or damaged avi files withought loosing quality.
5-how can I increase the sound volume of an avi file?
6-Sometimes , parts of avi files become unreadable because altought the file keeps reading, their is not the real image, just colour squares , all over the screen..How can I correct the file...If I can?
7-what are filters??and where could I get some , if I need some..
8-what codecs should I have absolutely??
That's (all)...sorry for all does questions but I am sick of not understanding it!
thx to reply to me.... |

1: just set both video and audio to Direct Stream Copy and save the file. You have to use a new name.
2: No. VDub can't output MPEG files.
3: Yes. Set both video and audio to Full Processing Mode, choose a video codec ( e.g. DivX5 -> www.divx.com ; click on Video | Compression ) and a audio codec ( click on Audio | Compression ) and save the file with a new name.
7: Go to www.virtualdub.org and then go the the filter page. There's a link to Donald Graft's filter side. You can find everything you need there.
8: DivX5 |

You can use Direct Stream Copy for Video that would let the Video compression untouched but if you wan't to increase the volume of a file you have to recompress it ( VDub also has a feature to adjust the volume somewhere in it's audio section ) except if it's MP3. But I don't know how this works exactly.
If it's MP3 you have to extract the audio from the AVI file ( open in VDub, set Audio to Direct Stream Copy and then use File -> Save Wav ) and then remove the WAV Headers ( use WaveMP3 for that ; www.doom9.org ). IIRC you can increase the volume by using MP3Gain on the MP3 file you got out of WaveMP3 but I never tried it. After you increased the volume you have to add the WAV Headers again ( use WaveMP3 ) and then open the AVI file in Vdub again, set both Video and Audio to Direct Stream Copy and enable Audio -> Wav Source and open the "MP3" file with increased volume + WAV Headers. Then save a new AVI file. |
