Hello there ! I am quite new to this and i have a question about compression. I want to record a film to a VDC in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 compression. I already have recorded my film to MPEG-1 format to my harddisk. The film-parts are cut/joined now. Problem is that i want to save the film in MPEG 1 or 2 format. I saw that Virtual Dub can only save avi´s. The film is about 90 minutes and i want to use one or two 800 megs CD´s . In the compression menu i have the Etymonix-Mpeg2 codec installed. That´s all i know. Can someone please help me ? |

Welcome crhcrx, I am sorry but i have to say that VDub is the wrong program for this operation, it can load mpeg1 and mpeg2 (but only with a little trick) but you can only write avi output
For a VCD you need mpeg1 For a SVCD you need mpeg2
You wrote, you have got mpeg1 already, so you just have to burn it on a CD with i.e. Nero or Fireburner as a VideoCD to watch it on your standalone DVD player.

TMPGENC (a mpeg encoder 1 or mpeg 2, only 30 days free use of mpeg2) VCDEasy (www.doom9.org)
I have always problem with playback with VCD that have been cretae with nero. some version The PBC does not work, other forward, or chapeter does not work. that deepns on version of nero. VCDEASY no problem
