Hi there, I recently tried to record an avi file that was greater than 2GB and it stopped capturing..........even worse I couldn't retrieve the old avi file
Is it possible to create spill drives (?) that would continue to record avi files?
I am using Win98SE as my OS.
Thanks in advance!!

Yeah, I'm a newb but that is one thing I've figured out. Go into TMPGEnc, Capture Avi>Capture>Capture Drives. Create a folder somewhere on your HD called "spill_drive", then type the path into the TMPGEnc setup window.
Once you start to capture, as file size approaches 2GB, TMPGEnc creates another AVI and dumps it into your spill_drive folder.
At the end of your capture, you'll end up w/ "avifile.00, avifile.01, avifile.02", etc., each being approx. 2GB. To open/edit, just open the first one. Can't open the others directly. |

TMPGenc ???
aha, thought we're talking about virtualdub... but nevertheless he's almost right.
- first of all you should create a capture folder (e.g. d:\capture) - then open up virtualdub - capture avi - go to capture -> capture drives... - hit 'add spill drive' only once (the proposed settings are just fine) - next to 'Threshold' click into 'Path' and type: d:\capture
that's it... don't forget to enable 'Multisegment Capture' otherwise you won't be able to capture segmented avi's
enjoy to capture
