Well, i want to capture TV programs. but i have a damn notebook (USB2 is available), so i need external TV tuner (preferably, both PAL, NTSC & SECAM, both analog & digital input). Long time i could to choose between USB1.1-cards (taking into account the USB1.1 speed, those cards seem like child toys), now i see a plenty of USB2 devices suitable for the realtime transmittion of, say, MPEG2 720x576.

I looked over the net to find a proper USB2 TV-card, but, i must confess, the opinions about the same device are too ambiguous: someone claims that Pinnacle PCTV USB2 is the best, the others say that $5 (Pinnacle asks their customers to add $5 for activating MPEG2-capture) is too large headpain and advice to buy AVerTV USB2.0... Compro VideoMate for You/Stereo is mentioned as the quality-to-price leader...

Well, i'm a bit confused. So, if someone of you, guys, has a good impressions about your USB2 TV Card, please, let me know. When you have no burning desire to write too much, please, just type the TVcard name, then "is" and, finally, "Ok", "Shit" or "something in-between"... thanks.

PS Does someone think that external TV-cards are still a child toy and only PCI Cards are worth of attention?

The ConvertX does appear to deinterlace and apply some noise reduction when encoding MPEG-4, at least.
