I had my mind set on the Sony DCR-SX44 camera but after a few complained about fuzzy looking videos I started to have reservations.
From these Youtube videos, the video quality doesn't look too bad from the SX44:
From the Handycamblog: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jdH9v9tRX0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD3ZyX6wUHs
Some slight degradation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGnOYrNvJjw...feature=related
Best quality I have seen so far from this user of the SX44: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcbaiAI7aBg
I am tempted to go consumer or even pocket HD so as to step out and be with the "in-crowd" I guess but it isn't as much of a priority though I don't like a lot of the HD cams, below $300.00, because of the cmos wobbling effects and that of no viewfinders on cameras much anymore.
The DCRS-SX44 uses a CCD sensor, 60X zoom which I probably would never use anyway, and records in mpeg2 with AC3 audio, Dolby 2CH.
I had thought that Vdub wouldn't take AC3 but I do have the AC3ACM plugin so this should be doable for importing at least?
My high limit to spend is $400.00. |
