I have a Sony CCD TRV280 Digital8. It looks like there is no more audio preview when playing back tapes and no system beep when going through menus and functions, nor when switching camera modes.

I did a test and played back the test onto the TV and the sound was fine? I did also notice a drag-like sound inside the camera when rewinding.

On New Years of this year I did have errors which I haven't gotten yet that requested to insert tape "C:31:22" or something like this. I'm wondering if the camera is on it's way out soon?

On many forums about the tape error the choices were to pay Sony about the same cost I paid for the camera to fix it or to rap it on the side. I have only done this one time and it wasn't even a slap really. A very small bump on the side. After that I didn't get the error anymore. I thought it was crazy but it really did work.

Tomorrow I'll be taking this camera to an old friend's grand opening of his new gym. He suffered a brain stem stroke. He was in a locked-in state when this happened 2 years ago but now he moving and communicating with people. It is truly a miracle since this type of stroke; it is rare type and prognosis is not generally good. He had to go to a special hospital in Georgia since the ones in Massachusetts left him for dead.

Adam and I go back to Kindergarten though we did lose touch in the early 2000's. He went to Japan for a while then came back to the states. Wasn't until late last year that I heard about his stroke.
