Hello everybody!
Just discovered the forum (1515th post of the kind eh? ) and it looks great! Very neat layout & very nice contents . Indeed, let's hope it will save some time & hassle to Avery
I searched thoroughly all the available topics & couldn't find an answer to my problem so here it is:
1) VirtualDub worked just fine, I was happy, birds were singing, the sun was shining...
2) then one dreaded day, I -as usual- clicked on "load scripting parameters" and the message "can't load Sylia scripting language (sylia.dll) missing module" appeared
I haven't changed a thing in my config. sylia.dll is in the same directory as VD. I tried copying it in the root, in windows/, windows/system/, no effect. I tried reverting back to old versions of VD, no effect. I tried making new config files, no effect...
This is under windows XP. I have the same version of VD working nicely under W98, on the same machine. I really don't understand. And I really resent using W98, please help I can't use my predefined parameters & filters, damn!
I've already seen some posts about this somewhere else on the net but no answer/solution

I don't have WinXP, but here's a few random suggestions:
1) If you're launching VirtualDub from a shortcut, make sure you have it set to start in the same folder where VirtualDub.exe is located.
2) Try copying sylia.dll to the windows\system32 folder.
3) Hope that someone with WinXP replies to your post.
Good luck.

hehe thanx for the answer anyway, anything is better than "0 replies"
1) not a shortcut issue ; same thing when using directly the main exe from the main vd directory
2) already tried on my root, windows, windows/system , windows/system32, etc.... same thing
3) That bug had already happened even my 98SE system (I remember vaguely) but had been solved "automagically", dunno how/why anymore ....
I wonder if the error message is reliable, in fact... Maybe that has nothing to do with the sylia.dll....
hint: I'll try launching the "xp version" ( D: ) from Win98SE ( C: ) . Of course, using the 98SE version launched from XP doesn't work.....
(sigh)
see ya! |

OK.
Here's the solution: fix
Too bad the only valuable help I could get here was a nice support message ( ) and...the link to doom9's forum...
I can use VD again anyway...

VobSub ? Again ?
Sorry Gabest, but this plugin is really screwing a lot of things ? Confirms me just that AVI needs a nice replacement with a complete subs specs .... like MCF ...
Sorry i couldnt help here, i never had probs with sylia.dll ( despite when it was mising in /system32 one time ), as i dont use subs at all ....
-------------------- Visit the unofficial Virtualdub support forum on http://forums.virtualdub.org - help to reduce the big number of emails Avery Lee is getting every day !! Support matroska as container and Gstreamer as the only truely open, x-platform multimedia platform .... |

hi Christian
well, I don't know anything about VobSub, and I don't even use it !
I just installed it dumbly as it was suggested in the link, and now, I can use virtualdub again. Weird bug , and weird solution!!
And I won't ever "plug in" VobSub, that's the silly thing in the story
PS: who is "Gabest"?
regards
