So I feel a little cheated...
I purchased "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" (ca 1991) on DVD because I'm weeding out my old VHS collection. Unfortunately the movie is on a 2-sided DVD5 (aka: DVD-Flipper) which means half-way through the movie I have to get up and physically flip the DVD over.
Unfortunately the store, like most, will not take it back because it's been opened. I tried to argue that the package was not labeled "DVD-Flipper" or any other notation that would have allowed me to make an informed decision at point of sale not to purchase the disc.

My question is, how can I combine the two sides into a single DVD9 without reencoding? I've Googled and found lots of discussion about VOB and IFO editing but the guides are very old (2009-2011), difficult to understand and I'm not even sure if the tools are adequate given they're not supported anymore.
Can I make an ISO image of each side, extract the VOBs and combine them by editing the IFOs or will I need to rip the DVD and then combine them using VirtualDub?
The tricky part is each side has a menu with chapter selection so I'm pretty sure I can't simply "mash" the VOBs to gether.
Thanks in advance! |

Did you google on "how to copy dvd5 to dvd9 free" ?
Found http://www.burn4free.com
Maybe it can help, but would you do all the effort ?
Probably you can buy your movie for about 10 EUR on DVD9 or Blu-Ray. |

Besides, since the box wasn't marked that it was a two-sided DVD how can I be sure that the next one won't have the same problem? |

I've never tried it with a flipper, but you can certainly join up vob's from different titles to create one new title. Scroll down to 'Joining double sided dvd's'
