"Error 422 Cannot add wave buffers" "Error 431 Cannot write to capture file data rate too high or disk full" Yes, I did try forcing the audio buffer to 4096 in the Capture>Settings I am Capturing with Virtualdub directly off the Video source.
I get great results with captures of 320 x 240 using the default Audio compression PCM 16,000HZ 16bit Stereo 63KBs Problem is the audio file is too large. I did change to lower quality but audio is poor. I am trying to reduce the file size. I selected MPEG layer 3 options (any format in the available choices) and the system crashes! The capture is about 1 hr and 30 min long. I have the Fraunhofer II Mpeg layer-3 Codec(advanced) installed and it is selected in my mltimedia properties. My system is Win98se xp1700 CPU 256 MB Ram ATI A-I-W 7500 80 GB with 40 GB free
I read somewhere that its not advisable to compress mpeg 3 directly but I am not sure if there is a work around? Any suggestions? |

Yes it's not advisable, and I don't know any workaround. (Trying to capture MP3 crashes my system also.) It's best to capture PCM and compress the audio later.

My problem was to install the file on a 80 min CD. I didn't want the file larger than 700MB. Capturing in real-time created a huge audio file. The file with video was over 1 GB. when I finished so I reran it through Virtualdub and kepted the same Divx 5 settings I then applied MP3 compression and it worked fine! The file was reduced to 528MB! Now All I need to figure out is how it get a sharper and enhanced image. I tried capturing in 640x480 but I get horizontal lines on the image edge when they move [B] I like to get 640x480 image instead of 320x240 that am using.Just cant figure out what filters or how to achieve it. |

Did you recompress the video? If so, you didn't need to. You can recompress the audio without recompressing the video by setting video to "direct stream copy."
The lines you describe are called interlacing or "combing." To get rid of them, you need to either "deinterlace" or "inverse telecine." VirtualDub has its own deinterlace filter and adaptive IVTC, and Donald Graft has a really good Smart Deinterlacer plugin for VirtualDub.

Thanks for the reply! I will try the either "deinterlace" or "inverse telecine and Smart Deinterlacer
Once I am able to achieve the cleaned up 640x480 capture, can I recompress this huge file onto a single CD or is this the best I can hope for? Thanks |
