I'm an absolute newbie, Ok. But this failure seems to be by design, if no Codec is selected at startup, all capture Codecs are tried and the 1st found is choosen.
That's nice.. But not for me!
I installed the freeware driver from Illusion Soft, it's full working. Because my original Hauppauge Drivers made problems w/ VirtualDub, and it's definitely the software I searched for.
But... despite the fact I uninstalled my old Hauppauge Drivers and removed hundreds of registry entries, I can't remove the "Legacy Video Drivers" entry from the Hardware-Manager.
In every other SW it's no prob, I just tell them which driver to use if they're making problems, e voilá...: it works!
But VirtualDub has (in Capture Mode) this dumb autosearch w/o questioning, so it takes the disfunctional but responding and 'still there' Driver and gets stuck on this (seems to be an endless loop, not-resposning, or re-painting anymore...)
I'm lucky that I've WinXP so I can shut this down. In other OS's like Win9x I may've been crashed to BSOD.
I think now it's clear why I'm posting it in *this* forum: I want to add an dialog where the drivers are listed and you can select which one should be used by the Program.
But the source-code is not so self explaining. But I don't want you to really assist me in any way. Just 2 lines or so...: the XY_?.cpp files, look there and don't...
That would already be enough. Nothing more...
Thx.
