It would be nice to have a volume slider to change the volume of the audio in the preview.

Would it be acceptable to have this affect the system volume control? I don't always have access to the audio data in a way that I can easily apply volume adjustments, so using the mixer would be easier.

I'm on Windows XP.
The problem is the need to change the volume in VirtualDub (just on the preview, NOT in the output file) without affecting the system volume (since it will affect also other applications).

Edit: If the problem are input plugins then maybe it could change it directly for directly supported formats and send a notify to input plugins for the volume change (naturally the input plugins have to be updated for this).
