A very simple UI request: 90% of my uses I select with the keyboard, Alt-V (video), five Down Arrows (Direct Stream Copy), ENTER.
I wish that "direcT stream copy" had an underline "T" so as to be directly accessed from keybord. Same with the "U" of "fUll processing mode" In both Video an Audio menus. Its a very simple thing to implement and it would save me a lot of keystrokes and time.
For internal consistency, in both Audio and Video menu Compression should be accessed with "C", (Audio has the C in "Conversion", it should have the N ("coNversion"), and that would be also consistent with it's Ctrl+N shortcut. |

Do you start vdub from a shortcut?
If so, why not make a default script that set you into directstream mode automatically?
To do so Start virtualdub Change to direct stream mode (and/or any other changes you like) Save the configuration to a .vcf file, from the file menu
Right click the shortcut to virtualdub, and select properties Move to the end of the target line and add (a space)/s "c:\TheVCFFileIJustSaved.vcf"
(change the file name to the one you saved in vdub)
It should look something like "C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\VirtualDub.exe" /s "C:\Users\Public\Documents\MyXVidSettings.vcf"
Then, when you run vdub from the shortcut, it'll load those settings

Or...... If you're feeling brave, my modifed virtualdub, has a default script that's settable from the file menu It loads it's default script on startup, without editing shortcuts
There's some other stuff in it, like job control dialogue with priorities for each job delete completed jobs+the source files (if there are no other jobs needing them) save to 2 or 4 parts (cutting to equal parts, on keyfames, audio is always full processed to avoid breaking on chunks) some extra filters and misc others
Drawback, it's modified for the way I work, so queuing a job, always forces full processing mode for audio and video, and some things are removed (save as some formats I never use, flic, gif etc)

Thanks for your suggestions, I could have two shortcuts for starting Vdub, one with each state. But it would be better to have those key combinations so as to quick access whichever mode you need in both Audio an Video instead. |

Don't see a problem with doing this, but note that in current versions you can also bind a keyboard shortcut to the command Video.SetModeDirect. |

Anyway, it would be nice to have those two items Underlined in both Audio and Video, so as when I quick install and use Vdub in any place don't have to program keys. |
