I have tried to use the tool to select portions of time in the video (dropping the rest) to select two parts of the video, dropping the part that is between them, and it seems virtualdub doesn't have this. I've made an image that shows the feature.

You could just delete the start, middle and end

Can this be done in 1 pass and without recompressing? I don't know how can I delete a part of the video without using this select tool.

Select the start of the bit you don't want, then select the end of the bit you don't want, then press delete (or the edit menu->delete)

This also works in direct copy mode (no compression) BUT only cuts at key frames

Or you can use compression with 'smart rendering' to only compress the bits inbetween the key frames, but you have to match the codecs settings to the source file's

Thank you, this is what I needed. I still think this feature could be interesting for vdub 2.0, or maybe a shortcut button to edit->delete.
