$30US for the card, try do it again buy another card with same video capture capabilities in case you cannot get this Corvid card to work. Wait also for Phaeron first in case is an easy fix with Virtualdub. Have you talked also with VLC developers on their forum or FFmpeg on theirs. Copy your initial post http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?s=&...=ST&f=6&t=22190 to their forum. I'm sure you won't be alone in trying to get this card to work. And that if others were searching for answer I'm sure would have seen your posts so far. Though maybe they have found others that they have the solution and the card now works for them as it should. By the way what capture software do most of the manufactures recommend or their forums say best use for capture. and with trying that can you make headway understanding what the problem is using it with other software !
1080p would be progressive 1080i would be interlace
Progressive video is always the better option |

I'd definitely buy another at $30.
They typically run about $800:

I got a great deal, and the one I currently have is straight from the factory. And, I am not sinking another penny into this project.
I did just post over at VLC, haven't had the chance to see what they've had to say yet.
Which logging / ingest software is like asking what's your favorite restaurant. I researched it before I started buying gear, and there is no 'gold standard'. So, I got a boatload of trial and freeware, and loaded them all to see what I would like.
AJA (the card maker) has their own software. It doesn't work. It doesn't even see the card. VLC and Vdub you already know. Adobe Premiere CS4 doesn't see it. Adobe and Microsoft encoder see it but can't record from it Microsoft Expression 4 can see it but not record from it ArcSoft showbiz cant see it AcDSee Pro 7(?) can't see it Snagit 11 can't see it VideoShow expressions can see and hear it, but when I hit record, it never creates an output file Wax 2.0 doesn't see it Windows Movie Maker 6.0 64 bit doesn't see it I don't know how to run AVISynth yet, so I don't know what it thinks... Adobe Photoshop CS6 64 sees it but can't pull from it Quicktime, I don't know how to make it look for the card Drastic Preview Pro can't see it VirtualVCR I am trying as we speak, but doesn't look promising.
And, I think you're right, -vdub-. As more of these Corvid cards get into the market, the more people will be seeking answers. Hopefully all this will help some others!

And there's the other problem release a card that has poor software and some drivers (untested) with hope that someone find better or someone makes better. Then as manufacture and oem's sell them can tell the customers to use xyz software. Simple cost cutting and likely the device isn't Corvid to start with or is but they are hopeless. Then have to think $800 card that does 4k video and more for $30 ! A good deal maybe but if can be made to work. Agree maybe others pick up on this and make better drivers to work with more software than now (if any). You have checked with Linux OS and forks and Mac in case driver is worked on or has been. Linux has many 3rd party drivers for many devices |
