If is 7 channel audio as posted in the error log at the end. Try using virtualdub with fcchandler's ac3 filter choose audio > full processing > compressor select ac3 extensible. You can also configure this encoder to decode as wav pcm audio if still need to.

The ac3 encoder if haven't got it installed, look to dlonerangers post for it (sig).

-vdub-,

I found it at "fcchandler's stuff" (which I can google, but I think loneranger put it up).

But how does picking ANY compressor or compressor options for output affect the input problem?? It is the INPUT aac stream that bombs at a certain spot, whether simply playing back through Vdub or doing a "save avi". (And I now believe it is bombing in 2 spots.)

HEY GUYS, I discovered that there is an Error Mode under Audio Processing. When I click on it is has a window "Decoder error mode". A choice of three options is there:
1. Report all errors.
2. Conceal errors and resume decoding at next keyframe.
3. Decode even if the result may be garbled.

This sounds just like what I want, but alas, the options 2 and 3 (I want 3) are greyed out!

It appears that you have to make your choice 'before' the file is opened.
So, change it while no file is open.

Regards.

It only works in certain circumstances
The plugin has to support it, and even then it doesn't mean it stops crashes in the codec
(You can check it after you've opened the file - it could well be disabled again)

Okay, I did that; changed to "Decode even if the results may be garbled". Opened the file and played at one bad spot. STILL aborting (while playing it) with "The audio codec reported an error while decompressing audio data. Error code: 1 (MMSYSERR_ERROR)".

Unloaded file, changed to "Conceal errors and resume decoding at next keyframe". Re-opened file and started playing right before the bad spot. Same bad result.

If either or both of you have a FAST internet connection and would like to check this out directly, I have uploaded the offending video to my Google Drive. 2.14GB. Here's the link. I think the program is 2 hr 18 min.

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B1eL7enF3Q...S3B3YWd6ZUFWMUE

On my fast connection I downloaded it to a different machine than I uploaded it from, and it took 16-20 minutes. The (2nd I believe) offending spot is within the 1:32 minute (the minute starting at 1 hr 32 min.) I played it in VLC Player and it got past it okay, losing only about a second to silence. In the player that came with RMC, there was no silence at the bad spot.

This is a volleyball match. The audio is already delayed a bit... don't know whether that's room acoustics or simply a mixer error in their sound system. Regrettably there's hardly any head shots of announcers, which we'd use to sync lips. But there are a lot of sharp whacks of a ball. (But the way they had the audience mic'd, often the whacks are drowned out.

Whoever downloads it, please let me know how it goes. I realize I'm asking a lot to have anyone download it.

I'll have a look, but you'll need to authorise the request for the file

I thought I authorized it by giving you the link. Uh, this is my first attempt to have a file on Google Drive. Think I'm gonna try DropBox later. Does it give you a clue as to how I am to authorize you??

----

Oh, I checked email and a request was sent to me. Now you should have received an email announcing your clearance.

(Btw, I promise not to abuse your email address.)

----

Okay, I figured out how to make the file so anyone can get it, without having my authorization.

I'll see if I can get it up in Dropbox, but will probably be tomorrow. Thanks for trying. I only gave in and tried Google Drive today. I read lots of complaints about it not have an upload status indicator. Didn't see anything about download problems. But I'll try DropBox. If you know of a better way to get a 2gb file to you, let me know, here or pm or email.

Have you tried other tools such as FLV-Extract or flv repair tools found at the same site.

Vlc you say plays the file ok, maybe it can convert it or demux the streams for you. Or find other tools to try demux the video video and or audio as you need be.
