I always get the message "Out of Memory" when I try to open video files in VirtualDub. I first tried with larger files (up to 5GB) and thought it was due to my poor equipment (1GB RAM, 1.81 GHz CPU).
But I just created a 9 MB mpg file with my TV recorder and tried again - the same result.
You can try with my file at http://www.tarifdisk.de/2008_02_11_19_56_06_arte.mpg

There was an "out of memory" bug in build 24571. It was fixed in the latest build 24586:

I have this problem with VirtualDub-MPEG2 1.6.19 (and with Virtualdub + MPEG2 plugin) :
If I open a "big" MPEG2 file (example dimension: 600MB, Resolution: 704 x 576, Bitrate: 6Mbps) ..parsing of the file and my pc (P4 - 512MB Ram - Windows XP) become very very slow when loading is finish, too.
Last version without this problem for me is 1.6.15 - 24458 (may 29, 2006).. It is very fast.. and my pc works normally.
( I tried all build 1.6.15 - 1.6.19, and various "big" Mpeg2 file)
Thanks if there is a solution for this (my) problem in last version of Virtualdub-Mpeg2. |

Get the needed plugins for 1.7.6 and up, here: http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/~fcchan...dler/index.html
Get's you at least WMV and MPEG2 support, dunno if there's any extra in vdub-mpeg2 beyond those 2 plugins. |

Hey, thanks I just found those plugins from techsupportalert.com. vdubmpeg also supported ASF video files, which is what I need. |

ASF support is part of the WMV plugin. |
