NO, we cant ... but we can certainly link to places where people are talking about it, without us or Avery getting inprisoned for that, especially with teh disclaimer i put up ... and we can also point to the places where discussion should be, as we cant discuss here wink.gif !!

So you can't download any XviD binaries because it's an open source project and any binaries violate MPEG-LA. But can you download the source and then compile for home use?

Hi grif,

nive to have a divx.com mod here on the board.

AFAIK you are not allowed to use the codec at all, but only for testing purposes to find out how good video quality is ... by no means may the encoded movie be stored or such.

Means : you can make movies ( from your own DVDs or other sources, of course ) with XviD, can validate the picture quality, and have to delete the files after that immediately.

You don't get asynchronous audio? Or are you using Nandub to mux .ogg into .avi?

OggMedia files done with OggMux (0.8.5!!!) shouldn't give any Sync problems, even if you name them to *.avi instead of *.ogm. As may know, you can name your ogg files to whatever you want... but your OS (windows in this case) will "see" a (fake) *.avi file - AFAIK, you only get sync or reeling (spooling) problems, if Ogg audio is muxted in AVI files e.g. with Nandub (or as OGG-ACM-Wave with VirtualDub - that actually can be done? - didn't know).

Sarreq said that he uses Vorbis ACM and not Ogg DirectShow Filters. Either he used the wrong expression or he doesn't use .ogm ( which I usually use smile.gif ).

If you mux .ogg into .avi using Nandub you don't get asynchronous audio but you can't seek anymore ( without losing audio playback ).

There's also a Vorbis ACM codec which allows you to use Vorbis like any other VfW codec in VirtualDub. But this Vorbis ACM codec always gave me asynchronous audio ( I tested several players ). Maybe this is fixed in later version. That's why I asked.

no, normal vdub v1.4.10 with the Vorbis ACM, comes out perfect unless the audio is already out of sync

About binaries: could http://cutka.szm.sk/ffvfw/ffvfw.html solve the problem ? (ehm... do you know a more recent update for ffvfw ?)

About Vorbis: do Avery know http://www.eclipsedvd.firstream.net/autodub/ ?
I think they should keep in touch !

Anyway... what about Theora ? Any coder yet ?

I think I have to install the Vorbis ACM codec again and test it again smile.gif
