Hi
Not sure why it is this way but I wondered why I never got answers to my question, wonder is I did but subscriptions don't seem to work.
For testing I used "Track this topic" on all my threads and still no thread is listed when checking My Controls>Subscriptions>View Topics.
Would be really nice if this forum would actually work

PS This damned "Note: Subscriptions are pruned if there is no reply to the topic after 30 days" should be removed.

Anyone else seeing this problem? I just tried subscribing to this thread and it showed up in my list.

As for the subscription timeout, I'm afraid that's necessary to avoid email problems. The problem is that people have a habit of subscribing to threads and then disappearing. Without this time limit, the board continues trying to send update emails to them after their email account has expired, and then the email server on their end starts blocking emails from this server.

I don't use email subscribe but have seen it been many times by people on the forum. Where maybe someone has developed a plugin (or other) a long while latter someone writes to the thread and developer doesn't get the email notice (time out likely). Have read of other posts where threads are not so old where people had written they didn't get the email of a reply had been posted.

Ping....

I'm tempted to actually try to migrate to a hosted board service. It's a pain to maintain this board, and this forum software is very, very old. Having someone else deal with it means less time dealing with spam, security, and configuration issues. Not sure where a good place is yet... SourceForge's phpBB comes to mind, but I haven't looked into how well it works yet.
