A movie has video and audio in it.
Mostly these are compressed by an "encoder" to reduce file size.
When you open the file, the program (like VirtualDub) needs a "decoder" for it.
In this particular case, it seems like your movie has been encoded with XVID.
So you need to download and install the XVID-codec (encoder / decoder) to be able to open that movie.
