Shouldn't the "Filter preview" window have its aspect ratio fixed?

Say you want to preview the resize filter for example

-> show preview
-> now you decide to enlarge the preview window

=> aspect ratio lost in the preview window as it's pretty hard to resize the vertical and horizontal axis by the same amount with the mouse

So in my opinion resizing the window horizontally should also resize it vertically automatically (and vice versa). Or is this a bad idea?

I suppose. Actually, the reason the preview window is resizable was to fix the problem where you're working with huge video and the window doesn't fit on screen.

What I really want to do is to expose the same aspect ratio options as the main panes, but that's not as simple because of the way the preview window is structured.

Somewhat related -- It would be nice if VirtualDub could set the preview position to the same frame as in the main window automatically on preview startup.

It does, starting with 1.9.0.

A "maximize" button in the upper right title bar would be nice too!
