Using FFInputDriver - yes.
As well as through DirectShow import driver or Avisynth script (if you have installed required DirectShow filters).

I installed the FFInputDriver plugin. I have DShow input driver and I think I've installed DirectShow filters before.
VirtualDub writes No Video on the screens. and when I click Play there's an error: no audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format. 566f

Probably imported through Matroska plugin. WebM it's VP8 video with Vorbis audio in Matroska container. Matroska plugin currently does not support VP8 video - and there is no 'compatible' ACM codec for Vorbis.
Select FFInputDriver manually - in open video file select file and change file types to FFmpeg Supported Files.
BTW Import through DirectShow import driver may be a bit problematic... With filters from WebM project - hang on. With Haali Media Splitter (and ffdshow) seems to be okay - except that (which is a bit strange) you must change file extension .webm>.mkv (if not, then will be error message "unable to create source filter..." or "unable to set filename on media selector...").

VirtualDub crashes when I choose FFmpeg Supported Files.
"An exception occurred in module 'kernel32'."
I don't know what is Haali Media Splitter. like you said it had a problem with DirectShow import driver.

Regarding the crash, did you remember to also export the plugin's DLLs' sub-folder? |

Definitively it looks like that a dedicated webm input filter would be very much wellcome.
Since the FFDinput plugin for this video require much more recent FFDshow that I can run, then it is not even much usable for me (Windows 2000 SP4).
But this will probably took some time, before someone made such plugin, right?
So, I contribure at least with webm video sample file - crazy database, lol:

Interesting finds about VirtualDub and webm are there: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/345312-...M-in-VirtualDub
It seems "the root of all evil" is the media splitter picked by the DirectShow engine. LAV Splitter and MPC's Matroska Splitter do work as they should, even when used with ffdshow --- whereas AV Splitter "freeze" VirtualDub.
That make me wonder...
...could be the webm convereted to some other container w/o reencoding, like mkv...?

FFDInput??? I assume you mean FFMPeg input plugin? FFMPeg input plugin does not use FFDShow at all and has nothing to do with it apart from starting with the same two letters Unknown to me if it works on Win2000 as that's so out of date and unsupported that if it doesn't I'm not going to even think about getting the plugin to work on it
However, your webm file links open fine with FFMPeg plugin FFMpeg's own exe whould transcode it fine - but again ...... win2000 so who knows
Your link to videohelp.com is to a two year old thread - it's a bit outdated and not very relevant anymore
@everyone else please note that you're replying to a three year old thread and anything from then is out of date

Okay, let's focus on the webm converting w/o reencoding.
I got suggested that opening it in MVK tools and that seemed like a good call. I tried it, converted to the mkv and the result was "Can't open file" message... MKV files I play w/o a glitch. In FFD show the VP8 is configured as libavcodec to decode it. So in teory, it should work, but... it does not.
When I tried to open the file into VirtualDub, it just tell me, that it have no videostream Suxxx. (resulted file is there: http://dfiles.eu/files/qlgjpvnax - https://www.oboom.com/7GGEVXJW - http://www.sendspace.com/file/a8j61x - http://rapidgator.net/file/fb60864c55bfcd2...slecny.mkv.html )
Tried several other webm files with same results. The output files are not playable/cannot be even opened in VD...! So that does not help at all. What I do wrong? Tried the simple rename webm to mkv and same result. Not playable, not possible to open in VD at all. Bad.

Opens fine with ffmpeg plugin and directshow plugin, mkv plugin fails with no video stream error and that's a deficiency in the plugin, it doesn't understand any vp* codecs

So I took a sample of webm file and MISSING CODEC is shown up. Then I rename it to MKV, once again get the dredful "MISSING CODEC" message instead of anything usable.
Reverted back to original Matroska plugin, but thanks a LOT for ANY effort towards being able to work with WEBM format, that are quite prevalent out there and VirtualDub has completely being ubable to open it at all

A sample file or even a clue about what codec is missing would be more helpful The plugin still relies on you having the correct vfw and acm codecs installed + the codec names being included in the plugin

@dloneranger
Just curious about the information concerning *.webm files, I did a few tests.
First I searched the internet for a few sample files. I found two of them on http://www.webmfiles.org/demo-files/ : > http://video.webmfiles.org/big-buck-bunny_trailer.webm > http://video.webmfiles.org/elephants-dream.webm
I did a download of these two sample files (via a right mouseclick - in Internet Explorer 11 - and "Save targe as").
When I open them in VirtualDub 1.10.5, thanks to your FFMpeg input plugin, the video and audio are correctly decoded and the file plays almost to the end, but unfortunately ends prematurely with an "Error while seeking file: ".
When I open them in VirtualDub 1.10.5, thanks to your Matroska input plugin (adapted for VP* support), the video opens correctly, but the audio can not be read. It seems like the tag 566f is not recognized. Following Media info, this tag should correspond to Vorbis audio.
So I downloaded and installed the Vorbis ACM, from here: > http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Au....shtml#download but unfortunately that did not help. The Vorbis ACM seems to offer tags like 0x674f, 0x676f, 0x6750, 0x6770, 0x6751, 0x6771, when I select them as Audio compressor in VirtualDub.

1) To avoid "Missing Codec" while opening *.webm via the Matroska plugin, you will have to enable the VP8 decoder in the "VFW Configuration"-panel of FFD_Show.
2) Together with the "FFInputDriver.vdplugin" you also have to install the subfolder "ffdlls" with avcodec-56.dll, avformat-56.dll, avutil-54.dll, swresample-1.dll, swscale-3.dll, to make it work. If not, you will probably get a "kernel32" error. |
