Apologies from the outset as I am not very knowledgeable on this subject
I downloaded a video from Youtube and want to edit it but when I tried opening the video in VirtualDub I get this message:
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format "xvid" (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible
codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those
used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable"
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Install latest version of Xvid codec (that supports lower-case FourCC's) - 1.3.0.
