Is there such thing as a timed recording in Virtual Dub. For example in "human script language":
Keep watching windows time
Set time ON 8 am Set time OFF 10 am
Date today.
Capture file = F:\Whatever.avi
Anyways, I did see something with predefined avi size (allocate disk space I think). So once you hit F6 would that actually fill up the size until it reaches the predetermined size and then stop or will it fill up the entire disk?
Thanks ahead,
A!

In the same place you found Stop Capture When - "File size exceeds" xx megabytes, there is "Capture time exceeds" xx seconds.
You still have to start the capture, however...And know how long the capture is...
As for scripting, I am clueless... |

Try this version of VirtualDub. It's called VirtualDub VCR & Sync. It has the audio sync option along with timed recordings.

Enjoy! |

Thanks much to both but I have a question for that SYNC version.
Is there a necessity for this SYNC version? what is it for?
(in my own captures) I notice that there is some audio sync lag issue when captures exceed 40 mins or so. I am not sure if it's avi or mpeg file but I noticed that there is about 300 msec (very small) audio lag in later parts of captures I made. I use tmpgenc to encode to mpg.
Note: However when I open these movies in Soundforge the audio and video are totally OK @#$*&@#(*&%??

Go to ARSTechnica's Video Capture Guide at the following web address and scroll down to the part titled "VirtualDub vs. VirtualDub VCR+Sync".

Old thread, just in case someone else wants the same:
You can program it in windows: Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Task Scheduler, Add New Task, next, Browse for VirtualDub.exe, Weekly, choose time and weekdays, choose user, check open advance properties after finish and replace VirtualDub.exe with: C:\yourVDubPath\VirtualDub.exe /capture /capchannel 26 /capdevice directshow /capfileinc captureFileName /capstart 60 /x
(Replace 26 with your channel, and 60 with the number of minutes you need to record), I also check: Execute only if session is started.
You can program multiple tasks as long as they don't overlap. |

isidro,
I just use V2CRS. It does the same thing basically but with a nicer user interface. Also less chances of a typo error. |
