Hi.

I have a compatibility problem with LIFEVIEW: "FlyVideo 2000 " card.
I can use the propietary software but cannot use Virtualdub for
capturing purposes, it always gives me the error message:
"Error 418, device not detected".

Instability like that comes from the driver.

You could try to install the generic wdm driver from sourceforge on top of you current driver http://sourceforge.net/projects/btwincap/.

It works well for me with PCTV & HAUPPAUGE.

You shouldn't need other drivers, unless you are having probs with the ones you got.Only reason people usually need generic,is their card was limited by the company's drivers(capture at 320x240 max, instead of 720x480),or older cards have no 2k/xp drivers.

The MS 8606 is based on the CX2388x chip,so you could try another company's drivers.Only thing is,they could screw up your system.

Çé, may i ask what driver version you are using??

The newest version ( its 10.4 and you can find it here ) is completely WDM compatible and works fine with virtual dub.

I use fly video 98 (it the same with 2000, the only difference is the lack of s-video input), and i have no problem capturing from virtual dub and many other programs (movie maker, power director e.t.c.)

kurkosdr,
from greece

Note: if you are using the drivers included in the installation CD, it is highly recomended to... thorw the CD out of the window, unistall the drivers and install the above. Cos the drivers of the CD are the most incompatible drivers i have ever seen (i didn t managed to find a program which can use them to capture from me card)
