Hi All,
I am using a WINTV Go card with BT881 chipset and I have the problem that capturing with VDUB is limited to 352 x 288. My native TV tuner application is supporting up to 720x576. I have read in different forums that I should try the Brooktree driver, but unfortunately this driver did not work on my machine. By the way I am using WIN2K and the original Hauppauge WIN2K driver. Is this maybe also a problem of the WDM to VFW mapper??? Has anybody the same problem and found a solution??? Any help??

Was my posting so exotic, that nobody can help me or at least had a similar problem?? I thought WinTV Go is a standard card and I can not be wrong buying it. Maybe a fault. Still hoping for any help.
Thanks

After the last reply I went back to my hardware and found out that I do have the Conexant 881 chip on my WIN TV GO card and not a BT881 chip. I bought this cards few weeks ago. Maybe now anybody has a good idea?
Thanks

To quote cofferscuffs:
| QUOTE | Why when capturing AVI is my capture resoltuion limited? This only applies to AVI capture for old cards (ie. my aged ATI AIW 128 16mb ). VirtualDub uses a VFW WDM wrapper to capture, limiting the resolution on some cards to 352x288 or below... This is best explained by Avery Lee;
quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the last time, yes, VirtualDub is compatible with Windows XP. It is, however, not compatible with DirectShow (Windows Driver Model) capture devices except when the Microsoft VFWWDM wrapper is installed, which does not let you capture integrated audio and is not available under XP. A solution is in the works but I can't tell you when it will be finished. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there is hope, but if new cards don't work (all that utilise the Bt848 / Bt849 / Bt878 & Bt879 Chipsets), install the drivers from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/ and then check out Koepi's BtWinCap driver mode switcher here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24710). |

I'm not sure if you've already tried this but I have a WinTV-GO and I have to switch to Preview from Overlay to capture above 320x240.

@jcsston Yes, I tried already this but still when I try to increase the resolution I am getting the message not supported in this video format.
@Baron Vlad I can not use the Btwincap driver because my chipset is a Conexant 881. I tried to install this driver, but without success. I have also tried to install the VFW WDM wrapper, but it did not work as well. |

Are you compressing directly to Divx?? Did you read the FAQ at the top of this section? |

@Morsa,
my goal is just compressing via the Huffy in YUY2 format. But even RGB option does not help me. I have not tried DIVx yet. Is this your proposal?
Anyway I checked the FAQ and what I have found concerning my problem I have tried already (VFW update, Wrapper, BTWINCAP driver,....). What I am doing right now is capturing with the Hauppauge application at 704x576, Huffy codec and YUY2 format w/o any problems. But actually I like all the additional information of VDUB duing capturing like available HD space, CPU load,...... |
