Can someone explain (in close to Lamens terms) what Video for Windows and Windows Driver Model are? And which VirtualDub uses...and does anyone know what a PixelView GeForce2MX VIO uses??
I have seen a bit about a mapper, but does this work in XP?
And just any information about anything along these lines!!
Thanks... |

RTFM.
Okok, to help you a bit out, VfW is an old way to communicate with your TV-Card (or other device) for video data.
Today, WDM is mostly used, but VDub still uses the "old" VfW method.
And about the wrapper, it is ONLY meant for Windows 2000. You could call it a WDM -> VfW emulator. If you got Windows XP, you won't need it.
Like you see, there is no direct way VDub can communicate with WDM drivers, and that's where the wrapper jumps in.
Still, if you are using Windows 98(SE) (NOT Windows ME, since that is the most crappy Windows in the history of Microsoft) you use by default VfW drivers.

I don't know if VD will support WDM EVER, but it doesn't need to (well, at least not for a while)...
That's the point where the wrapper jumps in! To be an "VfW emulator"! VDub just works great under the newest Windowses as long as there is a wrapper.

No it doesn't (at least for me). I can't capture over 288 PAL and I assure you I have latest drivers for everything, no conflicts, XP SP1...
