Does anybody know what happens when you ask the DC10+ to capture at 640x480? Does it actually capture at that resolution and then interlace or does it just 'upscan' 320x240?

Also is there a way for it to capture w/o interlacing?

thanks

Pinnacle does have support boards for their products .. let me see if i find a link ... here you go : http://webboard.pinnaclesys.com/default.asp?lng=2 .... your question might be better answered there i guess because its a very product specific question.

Since I have Pinnalce Hardware myself I can help you a bit: at least the drivers that shipped with my Pinnacle Studio PCTVpro do create a 320x240 picture and resize it to what I want if I use YUV colorspace. With the btwincap drivers I haven't got this problem. Maybe it's the same for your card.

Yes, capture is at "real" 640x480.

>...and then interlace it.

the card doesn't interlace anything. That's how the signal is.

>does it just 'upscan' 320x240?

No.

>Also is there a way for it to capture w/o interlacing?

Use deinterlace filters.

>With the btwincap drivers I haven't got this problem

Btwincap are for bt8x8 boards, not for dc10+.

Just an added note, although it has been a while since I've checked with pinnacle (their support for their aging products is less than satisfactory), if you wish to use Windows 2000 or XP, you are restricted to using their software and require updates to their Pinnacle Studio software just to capture. So unfortuneatly, just to warn anyone, capturing in Virtualdub with Windows 2000/XP using any Pinnacle DC10/DC30 series of cards will most likely be disappointed.

If you're using PAL, it can capture 768x576, however, if you're using the NTSC version of the card, the highest resolution you will see will be 640x480 (which is proper for NTSC if you're using square pixels, not a CCIR 601 format).
