Error 418: Capture driver is not installed properly. VirtualDub cannot connect to the desired capture driver. Trying all available drivers. PANIC: VirtualDub cannot connect to any capture drivers!
I downloaded VirtualDub and set it up as the instructions said (no real installation). I have a ATI TV Wonder capture card and I can capture MPEGs through the software that came with the capture card just fine so I know it works.
I haven’t been able to get past the initial set up. In the instruction manual it says
"Begin by running VirtualDub. Click on File -> Capture AVI to enter the video capture mode. It's okay if some dialog boxes appear because we haven't configured VirtualDub yet. The boxes may tell you that you need to select your capture device, or they might provide you some specific information about your capture device. Just hit the OK button(s) to remove the dialog boxes."
When I select "capture AVI" I get the following errors (3total):
Error 418: Capture driver is not installed properly.
VirtualDub cannot connect to the desired capture driver. Trying all available drivers.
PANIC: VirtualDub cannot connect to any capture drivers!
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the card but nothing has worked. Please help!

Hi, I get exactly the same error messages after I changed to Windows XP. My capture device is a Pinnacle DC10+ and it works (captures) fine with Pinnacle Studio 7 even under XP. I tried the "wrapper.zip" tool w/o success. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks to the infos I found from GreatLord, Chris and others about this subject, I'll stick to Pinnacle's software, it's not all that bad.
