simple answer - alot

more precise answer - depends on what you're using to capture, if VDub (or most any other AVI capture programs), then you will need to use a FAST codec which consumes lots and lots of HD space, like HuffYUV.

my advice if you happen to be using an ATi capture card (All-in-wonder, rage theater, etc.) is to use ATi's own software to capture to high bitrate MPEG-1 (at least 4.00megabits/second), then reconvert it with VDub

I used to have a hauppage TV card, but was never able to capture with it, so if anyone has info for that specifically, come right along

I use Virtual Dub with Video codec Microsoft Mpeg4 v2 and PCM 44khz with keyframes 25fps (PAL) and I manage to record from my tv card for 2.5 hours around 3GB or so.

Remember to setup capture spill drives (if using FAT32) to capture more than 2Gb segments.

Hope that helps.
