I just downloaded and installed VirtualDub 1.10.4, and I'm trying to capture some video of my desktop. When I run the program and then click on File>Capture AVI, the VirtualDub window shows just a small portion of the top-left area of my desktop. I have the Device set to "Screen capture". When I actually start the capture and record video, the resulting AVI file is only 320x240 and just shows the top-left area of my desktop. Any way to change area that will be captured?
EDIT: I just found the Video>Set custom format option to change the size of the recording. But still that always starts from the top-left of the screen. Is there any way to create a truly custom recording area - like what if I only wanted to record a 400x300 box in the center of the screen? |

When in VirtualDub's Capture mode, the Video-menu > Source... entry should offer the options that you are looking for. |

It'd be nice if you didn't have to know the exact coordinates and width/height of the area you want to capture. A feature to drag a box to select the area you want to capture would make it much easier. |

Can get these pretending of doing screenshot via Greenshot, which shows these before screenshot taken!
How better to integrate?... 1. Contemplate Greenshot code, but rewrite for VirtualDub. 2. Fork Greenshot and create special tool which just prints numbers. 3. Or do similar with code in CamStudio.
I wrote post which inludes steps to grab screen with VirtualDub either http://asdandrizzo-se.blogspot.com/2013/04...ng-related.html |
