I've got an USB HDTV tuner and I was wondering if it's possible to use it with VirtualDub. The tuner's accompanying software is flashy, with colored buttons and it's OK if you prefer looks over funtionality. I'd definitely prefer to use VirtualDub to capture video but I found that while the card is correctly detected, VirtualDub doesn't have a tuner for HDTV.
Is there a way to use this tuner with VirtualDub?.
Thanks in advance. |

Sorry... it's pretty unlikely. I can say that without even knowing the name of the device as they're all extremely fiddly under the hood, assuming that they even support standard capture methods. Pretty much every one of these that I've tried to get working has been a huge PITA even when I had the device in front of me to debug, much less when I don't.
For instance, I just got an AVerMedia C875, which is similar to your situation -- device works pretty nice, but the software it comes with is ugly. It claims to support the standard Microsoft DirectShow API... but the capture filter's outputs are unusual and I haven't been able to get anything resembling a playable video stream out of it with GraphEdit, much less VirtualDub. |

Too bad. This feature could make VirtualDub absolutely perfect.
Thanks anyway for your reply and your effort on making such a great software. |
