Hi

I'm trying to capture video with VirtualDub. When i connect line audio to my laptop and turn on "listen this device" i can hear good sound: http://screencast.com/t/f5WWvrnxT3

But if i want to record sound in virtualdub i hear only crackling noise. My setup: http://screencast.com/t/sPJN0BByHMK4

What am i doing wrong?

I don't know wether it will help, but you can try this (in Windows 7 and probably also in Windows Vista):
- do a right mouseclick on the speaker icon (normally at the right in the Windows taskbar at the bottom of your screen)
- in the shortcut menu that will pop-up : click on 'Recording devices'
- do a right mouseclick on one of the devices and verify that 'Show disabled devices' is checked and active
- do a right mouseclick on the device that corresponds to the 'line in' of your pc and click 'Enable'

Now try a new capture with VirtualDub.

It would be interesting to give us some kind of 'feedback', so we know if this helps or not ...
