Hi,
I've got a USB camera and want to capture video from it. Unfortunately, the camera doesn't report a frame rate so that VirtualDub cannot record from it (-->error saying that variable frame rate is not yet supported).
Is there a workaround for this? Can you recommend alternative to VirtualDub which can deal with variable frame rates?
Thanks, Matt |

If that is a web camera try using a strong light source, most of them drop the frame rate when light is low.
Also, it would be beneficial if you told us which model of the camera it is and whether it has any special drivers or "just works".
Just an idea to keep you busy until someone else with more experience chimes in |

I'm talking about a very specific, known limitation of VirtualDub: If VirtualDub cannot detect the frame rate of the camera, then it cannot capture video from it. People who have the knowledge to help me out will know the issue I'm talking about |

The problem applies to any camera that's not supplying the necessary metadata.
The model I happen to be using is a Müller Optronic microscope camera via a DirectShow-compatible driver. |

The model I happen to be using is a Müller Optronic microscope camera via a DirectShow-compatible driver. | Two more questions:
1. Do you have any idea what framerate camera actually works at?
2. Did you try to contact the manufacturer to ask for updated drivers that do report the framerate? http://www.mueller-optronic.com/xtcommerce...ontact:_:7.html
Personallly, that is what I would do and if they refuse I would ask for a refund. |
