I'm recording some things from video tapes and would like some help with fixing the recording levels in VirtualDub. I'm using a dazzle USB capture card and I was messing around with the recording levels and now it's a little discolored, and dark colors look horrible now.

Can someone give me the best possible level numbers?

(the menu that comes up when you press "l" in capture mode.

Record your tapes in normal mode and if the volume is low you can use the Audio->Volume setting in VirtualDub to raise it to whatever you want.

I'm referring to these level bars that come up when you press "L"

Can someone provide me with the best numbers for this they can? Or at least some way to restore them to their original numbers.

I wouldn't know about those as I don't have a capture card.

You said "I was messing around with the recording levels and now it's a little discolored, and dark colors look horrible now"
I would think it's a simple case of fiddling around until you find a setting that's pleasing to you.
Unless someone has the identical hardware that you have (which is extremely unlikely), the numbers for the best setting will be unique to your machine - that's probably why nobody has answered your post.

From what I have seen though, all the values work exactly the same on all computers. the only problem is that I cannot find the origina lnumbers. Someone, seriously, please just check your numbers and post them.
